Vintage Jade Distylium can be planted anytime of the year as long as long as the ground isn't frozen. When planting in summer be sure to water deeply an additional time per week.

Plant in full sun to part shade. This evergreen shrub is adaptable to different soils, but performs best in a moist, well-draining soil. Plant in zones 6b to 9 for best results. Cooler zones can grow as a container or patio plant. After planting water deeply 1-2 times per week. Once established the Distylium is drought tolerant. Water in periods of drought for best growth and flowering. Fertilize with a balanced, slow release fertilizer in spring. There is no need for pruning, but this shrub tolerates heavy pruning. Prune in early spring after flowering has ceased. This Distylium deer tolerant and pest and disease resistant.
