Or for a more natural look, just plant and let it be and they will look like an upside-down, golden mop. if you prefer a more manicured look, shear twice a year.

The Gold Mop Cypress looks great planted around camellias, trees, and also in natural areas where they can get larger. They are a great addition to the landscape and really bring a lot of color.

Add color to your home and enjoy your easy to grow Gold Mop Cypress.

Gold Mop Cypress FAQ

What Are Good Companion Plants For This Shrub?

Loropetalum, hostas and oakland hollies pair well in the landscape with your gold mop cypress.

How Do I Plant A Gold Mop Cypress?

Plant in a spot that has well drained soil and full sun to part shade exposure in grow zones 4-8.

How To Propagate A Gold Mop

Propagate in late summer from a 4-6 inch stem and remove the lower 3" of leaves and set in soil mixture. Mist and cover with a plastic cover to keep in moisture until roots have established. Plant in a spot that has full sun exposure.

Gold Mop Cypress Care

The Gold Mop Cypress is called a scale-leaf evergreen because its foliage consists of flattened, threadlike needles that twist around the thin branches like fragile scales. It's ideal to prune this shrub early in springtime, just before new growth shows up. This permits new growth to cover up pruning marks quickly, staying clear of the appearance of cut branches, and likewise offers the plant a full season to recover from the shock of pruning. You can do fine-tuning of your Gold Mop's shape later on, in May, June or July, while the plant is still actively growing. Stay clear of cutting the shrub back in late summer or fall, due to the fact that tender new growth might be damaged by winter cold.

Cut each branch on your Gold Mop Cypress back to a strong lateral branch or shoot, choosing a length that approximates the final desired size of the shrub. See to it all cuts are made at a point where there's still green foliage as well as noticeable buds, and protect yourself against spread of plant disease by cleaning your pruning blades with a clean fabric and rubbing alcohol to sterilize between cuts.

Landscape ideas

The Golden Mop Cypress is labeled one of the best evergreen shrubs on the market since it very easy to grow and really has no substantial pests or conditions to worry about. Simply plant it and enjoy the beautiful golden mop shrubs. This lovely evergreen becomes a small mound, making it perfect for foreground planting in the landscape. Use it as part of your foundation planting around your property. Gold Mop Cypress

Disappointing. Plants were shipped 2 weeks after completing my purchase upon emailing for status update. The 1 gallon planters were smaller than those purchased elsewhere and dirt was scarce. Otherwise plants were healthy.
