Tall Hedges For Privacy

hedges - tall hedges for privacy

If you don’t want to be able to see your neighbor’s yard or you don’t want them peering into yours, tall hedges for privacy are beautiful and a much more affordable option than wooden privacy fences. Another benefit to plants over fences is that you can choose tall hedges! The whole neighborhood would be talking if you put up a 10 or 20 feet tall fence, but with trees no one even thinks twice! Tall hedges provide true privacy that a 6 foot high wooden privacy fence won’t.

How To Get Your Privacy Hedge Off on the Right Root!

The secret to having healthy, beautiful plants in your landscape is water, water, water. But don’t tune me out yet! Like I said, these tall hedges for privacy are all drought tolerant. BUT, for the first few months these plants are establishing their roots. You want the roots to be healthy and vigorous and to grow deep, rather than shallow. The way to help your privacy shrubs do this is with deep waterings once or twice weekly. Use a hose with no attachment at the base of your plant, and let it run wide open for one to two minutes. Of course smaller plants will need less water and larger plants will need more. The goal is to get water penetration below the roots.

There are so many options when it comes to trees for privacy from neighbors. We hope you found one or two that you like in our list. All the privacy trees that we have chosen are low maintenance, hardy, fast growing, drought tolerant, and adaptable. So plant your tall hedge for privacy today and get one step closer to your perfect, PRIVATE backyard! Happy planting!
